Design and construction supervision of a traditional 14th-century interior courtyard using classical Moroccan elements for permanent installation in the new Islamic Wing of the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. The design adapted traditional materials — wood, plaster, marble and mosaic (zelij) — to the smaller dimensions of the site, producing the same proportional design. The work was coordinated with a noted Moroccan historian and the curator of the Islamic department at the Metropolitan Museum.
The courtyard is now a permanent feature of the New Galleries for the Art of the Arab Lands, Turkey, Iran, Central Asia and South Asia, opened in 2011 after eight years of renovation and a $50 million investment.
